Our precious mother, Ima Laverne (Hopkins) Barrow Hibler, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 26, 2016. She was surrounded by her loving children at the time.

She was born on February 22, 1922 to Charlie Elmer and Jessie (Williams) Hopkins. She was a life-long resident of Burnet County. She loved her children, grandchildren, family and friends. Ima never met a stranger; she had a wonderful personality and she loved everyone she met. She always worked hard and wanted to help others. She truly had a heart of gold and would give anyone her last dime if they needed it.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Elbie Barrow and James Hibler, her parents, Elmer and Jessie (Williams) Hopkins, her sister Bert (Hopkins) Tatum, her brothers Charles James (C.J.), Odell and Tommy Hopkins.

Ima is survived by her sons Glendon Barrow (Kathy) and Jimmy Hibler (Delilah), and her daughter Shirley (Hibler) Norris Ligon (Mark). Also, her grandchildren: Gina (Barrow) Mitschke (Craig), Chris Barrow (Mendy) and Vicky (Hibler) Huffstuttler (Bobby), Jamie Hibler (Tamara), Jess Barrow & Johnnie Norris. She is also survived by her 12 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren, sisters Mildred (Hopkins) Guess and Mozell (Hopkins) Alcorn, sister-in-law Lillie Fay Hopkins;’ brother in law, Donald Hibler and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

We would like to extend our gratitude to the Bertram Nursing Home staff. Ima was a resident at this facility for almost three years and she was treated with the utmost love and respect. Their exceptional care, kindness, and compassion will never be forgotten.

We would also like to thank Dr. Syed and his P.A. for their continuing care. We are also thankful to Harbor Hospice for their quality care and compassion for mom during the last four months of life.

Ima; i.e. Granny Ima, had a wonderful life surrounded by family and friends. We are all thankful to have had her in our lives, and she will be dearly missed.

In Lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Bertram Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Arrangements under the care of Edgar & Jenkins Family Funeral Home, Burnet, Texas.
