Hershell Weldon Farber, 92, formerly of Pampa, passed away May 29, 2016 in Amarillo.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel, with his brother, Ja Farber, a Church of Christ minister, officiating.

Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery of Pampa under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

Mr. Farber was born on November 16, 1923 in Walters, Oklahoma to Elmer and Alma Farber. After high school he enlisted with the U.S. Army and was discharged as a Sargent. During his service he married Oleta Smart on August 23, 1946 in Sayre, Oklahoma. Oleta would precede him in death on December 2, 2012. A few years after their marriage they moved to Gray county area in 1953. He would enter the oil & gas industry where he would work as a pusher for Flynt Engineering Company, retiring after 28 years of employment. He was a former member of Central Church of Christ. Hershell and Oleta would spend the last several years living in Amarillo.

Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Cummings of Claude and Judy Kay Kent and husband Billy of Fairfield; a son, Larry Farber and wife Kathy of Amarillo; a brother, Ja Farber and wife Mary of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; a sister, Patricia Ann Pear of Sayre; five grandchildren, Benji Husen and wife Stefanie, Karie Crowley and husband Justin, Kellie Rogers and husband Mason, Gregory Farber and wife Leila, and Grant Farber and wife Brandi, all of Amarillo; 17 grandchildren and numerus extended family. Hershell was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 from 6:00-7:30 PM.
