Loyd M. Brown went to be with our Lord on May 28, 2016. He was born June 30, 1927 in Austonio, Texas to parents Robert Brown and Margie May Christian Brown.

Loyd was preceded in death by Robert and Margie and his siblings, Ima Brown, Roy “Buddy” Brown, Lawrence “Jack” Brown, and Oscar “Skinner” Brown. Loyd is survived by his wife, Elaine Jennings Brown, with whom he celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on January 29th of this year; his son, David Loyd Brown, and wife, Angie, of San Antonio, Texas; and his granddaughter, Berkeley Elaine Brown, of Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Loyd Brown fought in the Korean War, he was also an MP in World War II. After graduating from Sam Houston State University, he became a teacher, coach and principal in Austonio and Crockett schools, and later was a junior high and elementary school principal in Lindale schools until his retirement in 1987. Throughout his life, he loved raising cattle on his ranch in Centerville and Austonio, Texas. Loyd and Elaine are members of New Salem Baptist Church near Centerville, Texas.

Funeral services for Loyd Brown were held Wednesday, June 1st, 2016 at 2:00 in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel. Pastor Andy Fauss officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Park.
