John Taylor Gaddis graduated from Mangham, La. High School and attended Southwestern La. Institute in Lafayette, La. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on July 10, 1940, during World War II and was discharged October 8, 1945 as a T/Sgt. A member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Monroe, La., he was a choir member there. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, member of Western Star #23 F. & A.M., Scottish Rites, a Shriner, member of Harubah Temple, Shreveport, and member of Northeast Shrine Club. He worked with the U.S. Post Office from 1956.
