Civil War Veteran; Enlisted in Company C, 120th Ohio Volunteer Infantry Regiment on 14 October 1862; died at the Mount City Hospital in Pulaski County, Illinois on 2 December 1864. James was buried at the Harlan Cemetery in Widowville, Vermillion Twp, Ashland County, Ohio. The Cemetery grounds is now being maintained by Vermillion Twp and is on the Ben Bouland Farm which is private property. The Cemetery is located on State Route 511 South just past Township Road 2206 and is 1/4 mile south of Widowville.
