Dorothy E Salmons, a West Scranton resident, died Wednesday night in Community Medical Center following an illness. She was the wife of William J Salmons. They would have celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary in September.
Born in Butler Twp, Luzerne County, daughter of the late Mr and Mrs William Henry Roth, she was a graduate of Hazleton High School. Prior to her marriage, she was employed by Bell Telephone in Allentown and Philadelphia. An avid gardener, she was a member of the Laurel Garden Club and the Elm Park United Methodist Church.
Also surviving are two sons, Richard and W James II, both of Scranton; a brother, John, Salt Lake City, Utah; a grandson; two granddaughters; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Robert, and a sister, Ruth Reid.
The funeral will be Friday at 8:30 pm in the Davies and Jones Funeral Chapel, 135 S Main Ave, with services by the Rev Rees Warring, pastor, Elm Park United Methodist Church. Cremation will follow.
Friends may call Friday, 7 pm until time of service.
