William Morgan, known by all as "Red", passed away peacefully at his home on May 23, 2016 at the age of 87.
He was born on September 23, 1928 in Creedmore, Texas to Hampton Morgan and Verna E. Calhoun Morgan.
He married Geneva Faye Morgan in 1948, and lived with their family of 3 children, David, Karen and Peggy outside of Del Valle.
Red was one of the last "True Texans" who devoted himself to God's soil. As a farmer, he loyally worked over 450 acres for Harold Greene from the age of 17 onwards and was Mr. Greene's trusted right hand man. Red loved the cows and all the critters on the land and spent many of his retired afternoons laughing at the birds, squirrels and raccoons that would come to visit on his porch. Very few were ever known to out-fish Red on the banks of the Colorado River.
He was an active member of Onion Creek Baptist Church and served faithfully as a deacon for over 50 years.
Red was preceded in death by his wife Geneva Morgan, his daughter Karen Wagner and his siblings Betty Joe, Nancy, Oneta, and Bennie.
Red is survived by his son and daughter in-law David and Cheryl Morgan of Kyle, Texas; daughter Peggy Estes of Kyle, Texas; son in-law Ralph Wagner of Creedmoor, Texas; 6 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. His legacy and many stories live on through his family and friends.
Visitation will be held at Cook-Walden Capital Parks in Pflugerville, Texas on Thursday, May 26, 2016 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be Friday, May 27, 2016 at 10 a.m. in the Memorial Chapel of Cook-Walden Capital Parks Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Red's memory to the Onion Creek Baptist Church.
