William Dame was the son of George Jacob Dame and Susan Ruth (Musgrave)) Dame. William married (1) Mary Jane Bazzle on January 3, 1854 in Clinton County, Indiana and (2) Martha Ann (Frazier) Wyant on December 25, 1861 in Clinton County, Indiana. William and Mary Jane had 2 children, Minerva Ann (Dame) Heaton and John William Dame.

William's obituary was written by Rev. Joseph W. Hogan, Methodist minister (per 1870 Tippecanoe Co., IN census). Rev. Hogan married William and his 2nd wife, Martha.

It is believed that William and Mary Jane Dame were buried in the White Cemetery which was plowed under by a farmer in the 1960s. Mary Jane's grandparents and sister are buried in White Cemetery (confirmed).

He was born April 4, 1828, and joined the Methodist Episcopal Chruch in 1852. He died happy "in the Lord", after lingering patiently for months with consumption.
