Pattie S. Byrum
EDENTON - Pattie Elizabeth Sitterson Byrum, 97, of Mark Drive, passed away on Monday, May 23, 2016 in Vidant Chowan Hospital.
Mrs. Byrum was born in Chowan County on September 6, 1918, and was the daughter of the late Charlie and Sadie Lane Sitterson. Retired from the Chowan County Tax Dept., she was the oldest member of Edenton Baptist Church, a former member of Edenton Chapter #302, The Order of the Eastern Star, had been named the Edenton Business and Professional Woman's Club "Woman of the Year", and had served as a volunteer with Hospice. Many will remember her for her faithful visits to the area shut-ins, and for her delicious homemade yeast rolls and cheese biscuits.
In addition to parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Edwin Byrum, Sr.; her son, Dr. James Edwin Byrum, Jr.; her sister, Annie Ward; and by her brothers, Willie, Vernon, and Jimmy Sitterson.
Surviving are her daughter, Linda Byrum Noel and husband Jerry of Clearwater, FL; her daughter-in-law, Linda Hall Byrum of Winston-Salem; five grandchildren, Anthony Tad Byrum and wife Cindy, Jonathan Brent Byrum and wife Julie, Philip Tyler Byrum and wife Kathy, Kristen Noel Wallace and husband Gareth, and Melissa Lane Noel; and by five great-grandchildren, Kellan, Ava, and Gianna Wallace, and Darien and Corinne Byrum.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. in Edenton Baptist Church and will officiated by her pastor, The Rev. David Brooks. A private burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends may join the family Thursday from 6 to 7 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton.
