Rebecca J. Irwin was born in Logan county, Ohio, Jan. 22, 1838, and died at Dentonville, Kansas, Apr. 28, 1903 age 65 years 3 mos. and 6 days. She was married to Wm. M. Archer, Dec 22, 1858, and to this union were born seven children: Mary Isabel, Harry J., George B., Frank W., Hattie M., Clara S.* and Anna Estelle. Four survive her. They lived in Logan county, Ohio until 1880, when they moved to Phillipsburg, Kansas and lived there until 1896, when they moved to Dentonville, Kansas. She was converted in early years, and united with the Presbyterian church, of which she was a member until she moved to Dentonville where she united with the M. E. church and of which she was a member when she died. During her last sickness, which lasted but 16 hours, she suffered untold agony, but passed peacefully away with a prayer on her lips. She lived a consistent Christian life, and has left behind her an example of true piety and devotion to the church she lived so will. The funeral services were conducted from the M.E. church, Wednesday at 2 p.m. by Rev. Mr Sawyer. The family has the sincere sympathy of the whole community in this their sad hour of bereavement.
The above is an account taken from the home** paper of the death of Mrs. Archer, who was well known here and had many friends who will regret to learn of her demise. The Herald feels that they will all join in extending the heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved ones.
