Roxie was the third child and daughter of Rebeccxa (Woodruff) Hill and Labon Hill. She was born August 9, 1835, on the farm called Chestnut Orchard near Rock Castle, West Virginia. She married John W. Barnett, November 02, 1856. Roxie and John were the parents of two children.

John W. Barnett died August 19, 1859. About 1864 the widow Roxie Ann (Hill) Barnett married Hugh M. Donnelly, a stone cutter, born April 20, 1835. They lived at Rock Castle, West Virginia. Roxie and Hugh were the parents of six children.

Hugh M. Donnelly died September 20, 1882, and the widow, Roxie Ann (Hill, Barnett) Donnelly married Major Lemuel Harpold, August 15 1885. Roxie Ann died January 29, 1906 and is buried at Foster Chapel, West Virginia.

Roxey Ann was born on the farm called Chestnut Orchard near Rockcastle, West Virginia. She is listed in her father's will as Roxey Donnelley and was left two dollars by his estate. She is buried at Foster Chapel, West Virginia in the Foster Chapel Cemetery. Hugh Donnelly was a stone cutter by trade. He was born in Ireland and was brought to America at three months of age.
In the 1860 Mason County, Virginia census for the area of Leon on Roll 1361, Book 1 and page 832, Roxey is listed as Roxa Ann age 28. In the home are Millard F. age 2 and David V. age one.
In the 1900 Jackson County, West Virginia census for Ripley District, Roxie is listed as 64 years old and having had 9 children and that 5 had survived at the time the census was taken.
