Funeral Services for Bertha Ann Hamner, age 96, of Bonham, Texas will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at Wise Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Owens Chapel Cemetery. Bertha’s Grandson-In-Law, Pastor Dennis Stewart will officiate. Bertha passed away Saturday, May 21, 2016. Bertha was born December 12, 1919, the daughter John Benjamine Calhoun and Sallie Blandena Elliott Calhoun. Bertha was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church since 1944. She had a giving heart and was instrumental in starting the Manna House Food Pantry where she volunteered for many years. Bertha also worked at the Sam Rayburn Memorial Veterans Center as one of the main cooks for 17 years. Bertha is preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Willard Danner and Oscar Branch Hamner; Brothers, Garner Calhoun, Buck Calhoun, Carlus Calhoun, J. W. Calhoun, R. L. Calhoun, Paul Calhoun, and Delbert Calhoun; Sisters, Willie Mae Payne, Mary Kathryn Smith, and Jennie Smith; Son, Jimmy Leon Danner; Daughter, Barbara Danner Kennedy; and Great Grandchild, Ashley Kennedy.

The family will receive friends at Wise Funeral Home on Monday, May 23, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
