Edwin L. Borstad, 92, died on Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2006, at the Estelline Nursing and Care Center.

Funeral services are Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Estelline with the Rev. Ann E.S. Webb officiating. Burial is in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Elkton.

He was born on Sept. 23, 1914, on the family homestead, near Bruce, the son of Chris and Marie (Bredaken) Borstad.
Edwin was baptized and Confirmed at St. Petri Lutheran Church and received his education in school district No. 56 in Eureka Township. He married Margaret Ann Lilja on June 18, 1946, in Toronto. After their marriage they farmed until moving into Estelline in 1969. Edwin was also employed for the ASCS and Federal Crop Insurance Company while he was engaged in farming. Edwin continued to farm until 1972, when he was employed with the City of Estelline until his retirement in 1977.

He entered the Estelline Nursing and Care Center on March 25, 2006.

He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, served on the School Board, Township Board, Trustee of the Church, and was an A.S.C.S. Committee Member. He enjoyed woodworking, was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Margaret Borstad; two sons Ted (Bev) Borstad of Ft. Collins, Colo., Donald (Mary) Borstad of Germany; four grandchildren; one great grandchild; one brother, Erwin (Fern) Borstad of Brookings and two sisters Marian Borstad of Brookings and Betty Watne of Detroit Lakes, Minn.

He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Christina and Steven; five brothers, Vernie, Mert, Loren, Ralph and Harold; and three sisters Evelyn, Clarissa and Emma.
