Sarah Neoma Beyer, 101, died Saturday, February, 14, 2009 at The Cottages.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 20th at the Weiser LDS Stake Center with a visitation one hour prior. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery, Weiser. Arrangements are under the direction of Thomason Funeral Home.
Neoma was born Sarah Neoma Fleming in Brant, Alberta, Canada on April 3, 1907. Neoma was the middle child of seven, born to Peter and Pheobe Fleming who shared the ranch with her grandfather David Woodruff and his wife.
Her grandparents moved to Weiser during the early years of World War I and her family followed in 1917.Soon after her graduation from Weiser High School Neoma married Bob Hansen, a mechanic who worked at several local garages. When World War II began, she moved with her husband to Stibnite in the mountains north of McCall where he became equipment manager of a mine mining metals used in making bullets.
Neoma began working at the post office and soon became the postmaster. Stibnite continued some years after the war ended and the mine closed.
Neoma and her husband Bob were among the last to leave in the early 1950's after 14 years in the backwoods. They moved to McCall and Bob Hansen passed away a few years later.
Neoma moved to Weiser to live with her daughter Lorna and her husband Lester Panike. She worked at Farbers Women store in Weiser for some time. Neoma married Ralph Beyer in 1969 and they had two sons, Jack and Lynn. Ralph passed away August 1981.
Neoma liked to do handwork and she made afghans for all her grandchildren. She liked to hook rugs and do ceramics. Her daughter Lorna and her husband Lester Panike whose children are Rod and Teresa (Manser), are her beloved grandchildren. In addition, a joy in her life was her 10 great grandchildren, 35 great great grandchildren and 2 great great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and one sister, and her two husbands, her son-in-law Lester and beloved granddaughter Teresa Manser.
Neoma has one surviving brother who resides in Arizona and her daughter Lorna Panike Dennett of Weiser.
Memorial donations may be made to the Teresa Panike Manser Memorial Scholarship Fund care of Weiser Memorial Hospital.
