Obituary for Celia Olson
Celia C. (Skogen) Olson, age 98, of Parkers Prairie, died on Thursday, March 24, 2016, at St. William’s Living Center.

Funeral services are 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 2, 2016, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Parkers Prairie with Pastor Rachel Stout officiating. Music is provided by organist, Dean Swanson and vocalist, Erika Olson. Burial is at Swedish Lutheran Cemetery, rural Parkers Prairie.

Visitation for residents and staff of St. William's Living Center is 11 a.m. - 12 noon, Friday at St. William's Chapel.

Visitation is 4-7 pm, Friday at Lind Family Funeral Home in Parkers Prairie and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.

Celia Clarice (Skogen) Olson was born on Feb 22, 1918, in Kensington, Minnesota where she attended country school. Following her education, she helped her family on their farm in rural Kensington.

She was united in marriage to Arthur Olson on Sept 23, 1936, in Cyrus. They farmed in rural Kensington until 1953, when they moved to Parkers Prairie and farmed for eight years. Celia then worked as a cook for ‘Hook’ Anderson’s Café in Parkers Prairie. After that she worked as a cook at St. William’s Living Center for 20 years and retired in 1990.

Celia was an active member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church where she was responsible for picking up and preparing the Confirmation service gowns each year. She also enjoyed volunteering in the Ladies Aid and Circles as well as assisting with meals at the Parkers Prairie Senior Center.

She was an avid gardener of both vegetables and flowers. She stitched countless beautiful embroidery and quilting pieces that will be cherished by her family. She was also known for her lefse and pies, which were always a wonderful holiday treat!

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur; three brothers; and three sisters.

Celia is survived by her two sons, Glen (Carol) Olson of Winona, and Darrell (Paula) Olson of Maple Grove; daughter, Betty (Lee) Goyette of St. Petersburg, Florida; seven grandchildren; 16 great- grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter.

Pallbearers are her grandsons, Patrick Luettinger, Erik Olson, Neal Olson, Ryan Olson, Kelly Olson and Colin Olson.

Memorials preferred to Swedish Lutheran Cemetery.
