Leon Edwards, age 71, of Johnson City, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, May 19, 2016 from the Johnson City Medical Center. Leon was a native of Carter County and was a son of the late Daniel William Edwards and Berta Mae Tapp Edwards.

Leon was retired from Lane Furniture Company and attended Milligan Free Will Baptist Church. He enjoyed playing his guitar and harmonica.

Those left to cherish his memory include four sons, Richard Gene Edwards and wife Lisa, of Glade Spring, VA, Jeffrey Allen Edwards, of Meadowview, VA, Joey Wayne Edwards, of Temple, TX, and Daniel William Edwards, of Johnson City, TN; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; one sister, JoAnn Pierce, of Johnson City, TN; and two brothers, Leonard Edwards and wife Joan and Ben Edwards and wife Pearl, all of Johnson City, TN. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A service to honor the life of Mr. Leon Edwards will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Milligan Free Will Baptist Church, 1471 Milligan Highway, Johnson City, TN with Rev. Mark Street, officiating. Music will be provided by the Milligan Free Will Baptist Church choir. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at the church, prior to the service on Saturday.

The graveside service will follow in the Fishery Community Church Cemetery in Erwin, Tennessee. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
