Benita Mary Conn, 94, of Onarga passed away on Monday, May 16, 2016 at Illinois Knights Templar Home in Paxton.

Benita was born in Watseka on March 3, 1922 to Harry and Bernice (Duncan) Leonard. The family moved to Paxton where she attended schools and graduated from Paxton High School in 1940. She was an only child. On June 18, 1942 she married Ronald W. Conn of Onarga. Benita was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking and was a homemaker on their family farm for many years. Benita enjoyed gardening, bowling, and playing cards. She was a member of the Onarga United Methodist Women, the Onarga Legion Auxiliary, Onarga Home Extension and the Onarga Woman’s Club.

Benita was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Ronald; and one infant son, David Paul Conn.

She is survived by her four children, Mary Conn Spencer of Centreville, MI, Barbara (Jerry) Haynes of Colfax, IN, Robert (Jan) Conn of Bella Vista, AR, and Donald (Jane) Conn of Loda, IL. Also surviving are twelve grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Reta Benson of Thawville, IL.

A joint memorial service will be held for Benita and Ronald Conn, her husband of 74 years, in the near future.
