Funeral services for Virginia Jones 89 of Tahlequah, Oklahoma are 2:00 pm, Thursday, May 19, 2016, at Green Country Funeral Home. Officiating are Reverend Bridge Chuckluck and Pastor Alan McBride. Preston Oosahwee, Monte La Roque Jr, David Michael Jones Jr, Michael Sierra, Eric Cheater and Jake Russell will serve as pallbearers. Virginia grew up in the Rocky Mountain area of Adair County. She was a graduate of Bagley High School and attended Flaming Rainbow College. She and her husband Ray were baptized on the same day.

As the wife of a minister she was a very dedicated and active member of the First Indian Baptist Church of Tahlequah. Virginia also helped pioneer the Johnson Pritchett Indian Baptist Church in Rocky Mountain.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Reverend Raymond Jones; parents, Stand Watie and Maybelle Bearpaw; daughter, Gracie Carey; two sisters, Billie Sue Blower and Kathleen Young; an infant brother; and infant son.

Virginia leaves behind her five children, David Michael Jones Sr, Lissa McBride and husband Alan, JB Jones, Stanley Jones and wife Marla, and Raymond Jones and wife Misty all of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; son-in-law, Henry Carey; sixteen grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; a brother, Dennis Bearpaw and wife Louise; aunt, Betty McKeeber; as well as many extended family members, friends and loved ones.
