PUCKETT RITES ON WEDNESDAY; PROMINENT COUNTY FARMER DIES SUNDAY NIGHT NEAR BUENA VISTA
Funeral services for James Puckett, 73, who died Sunday night at his home near Buena Vista, will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 10:30 o'clock at the Buena Vista church with burial in the adjoining cemetery. Rev. Zelma Mills will officiate.
The body has been returned to the residence from the Thornburg funeral home at Farmland.
Mr. Puckett, a lifelong resident and well-known farmer of Randolph county, had been seriously ill the past three weeks. Death occurred at 7:30 p.m.
Surviving are the wife, Luella; two brothers, Chester of Winchester and Elijah of near Winchester; two half-brothers, Clarkson of Winchester and Emerson of Muncie, and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Donal Hutchins of Winchester is a niece.

OBITUARY
James Puckett, son of Nathaniel and Sarah Adamson Puckett, was born, May 8, 1865 in Randolph county near Buena Vista.
His first marriage was to Ruth Victoria Ledbetter on December 31, 1886. In a few short years, death severed this union on September 22, 1891.
He was united in marriage to Luella Slack, October 21, 1893. This couple came to their now present home in the year 1902 and his entire life has been lived in this community where he will be missed by his neighbors and friends, who knew him as an honest upright man and a dependable word.
He was a member of the order of I.O.O.F. lodge of Farmland.
His affliction was of three weeks and after all science had been rendered for his recovery, proved in vain. On the eve of July 3, 1938, death came at the age of 73 years, 1 month and 15 days.
Leaving a companion, two brothers, Elijah and Chester Puckett of Winchester, two half-brothers, Clarkson Puckett of Winchester and Emerson Puckett of Muncie and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at 10:30 o'clock at the Buena Vista church, conducted by Rev. Zelma Mills. Interment in nearby cemetery.
