Lyle Adair Jakeman peacefully passed from her mortal journey to join her family and loved ones in Heaven on May 13, 2016, just one month prior to her 93rd birthday. She fulfilled her wish to stay in the home she had occupied for 57 years.

Lyle was born on June 12, 1923 in St. George, Utah, to Josiah (Sy) Hoyt and Myrtle Celestia Barnum Adair. She was the first of two children born but, at the early age of six, her mother passed away from complications during the birth of a third child, Thomas Russell. The baby was stillborn and Myrtle passed away the next day.

When Lyle was 11 years old, two stepsisters, Maurine (Farnsworth) and Delsa (Bradshaw), along with two stepbrothers, Galen Winsor and Melvin Winsor, were added to the family when Sy married Eleanor Winsor. Two more sons, Gary and Neldon, were added shortly after. Lyle graduated from Lincoln County High School in Panaca, Nevada.

On February 19, 1942, Lyle married George Alma Jakeman in Panaca, Nevada. They were later sealed in the St. George Temple on May 31, 1957. They are the parents of five children: Lynda Richmond, Judy (Phillip) Hatch, George L. (Jane) Jakeman, Elaine Norton and Lorraine (John) Chesnut.

To Mom, family was always a priority and she spent most of her life serving her family but, as she grew older, she was not able to plan the fun events as she had always done for her grandchildren in the past. Each of them, however, has many fond memories of the fun activities she planned just for them.

George passed away October 29, 2007 and a son-in-law, Phillip Hatch, passed on June 12, 2007, Mom's birthday.

Lyle was not a quitter and for eight and a half years she has remained steadfast in the gospel and endured the tests that life handed her with a lot of courage, always serving in any way she could to bless the lives of those who made her life whole and full of happiness. She served many years in the Primary, also in Young Women's, and in Relief Society including as Relief Society President.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 21, 2016 at the Cherry Hill 7th Ward Chapel, 135 East 2000 South, Orem, Utah. Friends may call at the Berg Mortuary of Provo, 185 East Center Street, Friday, May 20, from 6-8:00 p.m. and at the church Saturday from 10:00-10:45 a.m. prior to services.

Interment, Timpanogos Memorial Gardens.

The family wishes to thank Maple Creek Hospice and Health care for their kind and helpful care as well as neighbors and ward members who spent time with Mom in her home when her health wouldn't allow her to go out anymore.
