Bessie Evelyn Hedge, 94, of Hayti, died Monday, June 26, 2006 at her home.
Born Jan. 30, 1912 in Hayti, she was the daughter of the late Dock A. and Rosa Davis Hedge.
She was also preceded in death by three infant siblings; one brother, Donald Gene Hedge; and one sister, Pearl Holt.
Miss Bessie was a life long resident of Hayti and a 1930 graduate of Hayti High School when the school was on the square. She played on the girls basketball team, playing in the State Playoffs one year at Fulton.
She went to work at the Bank of Hayti in 1930 and worked here until 1977.
She was a member of Hayti Baptist Church and had been the church treasurer.
Ms. Hedge leaves two sisters: Dorothy Baker and Wanda Andrews, both of Hayti; and Three nieces and two nephews.
Funeral services for Ms. Hedge were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 29, 2006 at the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel in Hayti with Dr. Mike Melton officiating.
Burial was at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Hayti with John W. German Funeral Home in charge.
