Thelma Joyce (Heflin) McGinnis, 86, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at the Winfield Senior Living Community. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, May 14th at Highland Cemetery in Winfield. No visitation is scheduled. A Memorial fund has been established in Thelma’s name with the Winfield Senior Living Center and may be left in the care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home. Thelma Joyce McGinnis was born on July 31, 1929 to loving parents William and Bertha (Paris) Heflin in New Salem, Kansas. Thelma grew up to be a beautiful, kind and caring woman. In 1946 she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Keith E. McGinnis. Thelma enjoyed being a homemaker and caring for her children and grandchildren; when she was relaxing you would be sure to find her watching one of her favorite television shows, painting or spending quality time with her family. She also enjoyed socializing at the Winfield Senior Center. Thelma is survived by her sons: Ron McGinnis, Roger McGinnis and his wife Nancy. Grandchildren: Ash McGinnis, Ariana Powell; and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
