He married Mary Louisa LeGuen in 1829, daughter of Louis LeGuen. They had eight children. A Philadelphia merchant, cotton manufacturer, active as a director of several prominent railroads in NJ & PA, and the Franklin Fire Insurance Company.
George Washington Richards was interred in Laurel Hill Cemetery on 25APR1874.
