ALPHA - Lula F. Kingery, 85, formerly of Alpha, died Saturday (Jan. 1, 2000) in Treemont Health Care Center, Houston, Texas.
She was born June 9, 1914, in Bushnell, the daughter of Emery and Addie Paul Dykeman.
She married Jess L. Kingery on Jan. 16, 1937, in Cambridge. He died Sept. 4, 1978.
Surviving are two daughters, Judy Anderson, Minnetonka, Minn., and Jeanie Corr, Houston; one brother, Chalmer Dykeman, Toulon; 13 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Marsha Kness Zude, and by four brothers.
She earned a bachelor's degree in education from Western Illinois University, Macomb.
She taught first grade for many years in AlWood School District 225's Alpha Elementary School.
She lived in Woodhull from 1952 to 1959, and in Alpha from 1959 to 1997.
She was a former member of Alpha United Methodist Church.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Peterson-Wallin-Knox Funeral Home, Alpha, with the Rev. Don Robinson officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Alpha Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.
