Curtis W. Miller, 92, of Lehighton, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 21, in the Blue Mountain Health System's Gnaden Huetten Campus, Lehighton.
He was the husband of Elizabeth (Brightbill) Miller for 62 years.
He was a terminal manager for the former Interstate Dress Carriers, Lehighton, before retiring in 1981, and was a school bus driver and crossing guard for the Lehighton Area School District for many years.Born in Lehighton, he was a son of the late Layton and Sadie (Bonser) Miller.
A graduate of Lehighton High School, he was an Army veteran of World War II, having served from 1941-45, including service in the Rhineland, Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes and Central Europe. He was honorably discharged and received the Good Conduct Medal, Bronze Star Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, a Silver Star and the American Defense Service Medal.
Miller was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, American Legion Post 314 and V.F.W. Post 256, all of Lehighton; and the Lehigh Valley National 4th Infantry Division. He loved to watch his grandchildren play basketball and his dog Millee.
Surviving in addition to his widow are three sons, Michael, and his wife, Rose, of Westampton, N.J., and Ronald, and his wife, Deb, and Jeffrey, and his wife, Donna, both of Lehighton; a brother Joseph, and his wife, Barbara, of Maitlan, Fla.; a sister; Ruth Keeney of Allentown; four grandsons, Michael Miller, and his wife, Denya, and Gregory, Daniel and Trevor Miller; and a great-grandson, Dylan Miller.
He was also preceded in death by a brother Earl; and two sisters, Mildred Hammel and Dorothy Hallman.
