ASHEBORO - Richard Charles Benbow, 82, of U.S. Highway 220 Bus. S., Asheboro, died Wednesday, June 18, 1997, at Randolph Hospital.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday, June 20, 1997, at Asheboro United Church of Christ, conducted by the Rev. J. Nathan King, and Elder Ralph Gaines. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

A native of Yadkin County, he was retired from Sapona Manufacturing Company, and was a member of Asheboro United Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Lanier Benbow; daughter, Elizabeth Finley of Charlotte; son, Maurice Benbow of Yardley, Pa.; sister, Edith B. Shaw of Asheboro; brother, Edgar Vernon Benbow of Asheboro; two grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, June 19, 1997, at the Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro.
