Sherman Bates, formerly of Noble county, was a son of the late James & Lou (McCarty) Bates. The family lived in the Wolf Run lake area prior to moving to Akron some 40 years ago. Mr. Bates was a retired employee of the Goodyear Rubber & Tire Company, Akron.
