Roanoke Rapids -- John Vernon Brewer, 61, a resident of Skippers, Va., died Sunday. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 3 pm from the Chapel of Branch Funeral Home by the Rev. Leonard Allred of Gaston. Burial will be in Cedarwood Cemetery.
He was a former employe of the J. C. Stevens Company.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Maggie Johnson Brewer of Shippers, Va.; four sons, J. Vernon Brewer of Emporia, Va., William of Wilmington, Donald of Skippers, Va., Fred of Gaston; one daughter, Mrs. Helen Scott of Live Oak, Fla.; one sister, Mrs. Oggie Wilson of Gaston; 15 grandchildren.
