Benjamin Samuel Heath was born Sunday, October 12, 1834 in Lyon Township, Oakland Co., MI. He was the son of Ebenezer Heath and Doeritha Shores.
He married Martha Ann Gragg Sunday, April 24, 1859 in Milford, Oakland Co., MI. They would be married 48 years, 11 months and 8 days.
6 children were born to this union: Edgar Ebenezer, Franklin Delbert, Lyda L., Samuel Irwin, Melvin, and Myrtle.
They lived in Oakland and Lapeer counties in MI. About 1876, they moved to NE and in 1880 were living in Antelope Co.
Benjamin hauled government freight to Old Fort Niobrara, NE. It was pure Indian country and the freighting was done with wagons drawn by oxen. The train consisted of from ten to twenty teams, each "team" being made up of twelve yoke of oxen.
When the oldest son was old enough to handle the freighting, Ben moved the remainder of his family to Nuckolls, Thayer, and Red Willow counties in NE and Sheridan Co., KS.
About 1891, they moved to Boone Co., MO.
They left MO to go to OK, but were in Republic Co., KS in 1900.
About 1906, a final move took them near Stockville, Frontier Co., NE.
Benjamin died of typhoid Wednesday, April 1, 1908, in Frontier Co., NE, aged 73 years, 5 months, and 20 days. He was preceded in death by 3 sons and a daughter.
He was a member of the United Brethren Church all of his life.
Funeral services were held in the Methodist Episcopal Church in Stockville Friday, April 3, 1908 by Rev. D. E. French. Interment followed in Arbor Cemetary in Stockville. He was buried next to his son, Samuel.

Sunset and evening star
and one clear call for me:
And may there be no moaning of the
bar,
When I put out to sea.

For tho' from out our borne of Time
and Place,
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crossed the bar.
