Virginia Mills of Newton, was promoted to Glory on Wednesday morning, April 27, 2016, at Careage of Newton.

Virginai Lee Mills, 78, was born March 1, 1938, near Oshkosh, Wisconsin, the daughter of Andrew R. and Rose Ann (Cihlar) Griffey.

On November 2, 1962, Virginia was united in marriage with James Mills in West Frankfort, IL. She devoted her life to her family, church and friends. She was a longtime member and very active in the Salvation Army Church.

Virginia is survived by her husband James of Newton; her daughter Rebecca Christen of Sioux Falls, SD; her son Dan Mills of Newton; her grandchildren: Marcus, Jordan, Nathaniel and Matthew; her sisters: Mary Will and Betty Schleiker; and her many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers: George, James and Robert; her sisters: Beverly in infancy, Esther Boardway and Shirley Menning.

A Private time of remembrance and family services will be at a later date, at the Newton Salvation Army. Pence – Reese Funeral Home in Newton has been entrusted with the arrangements.
