Agnes C. Schumacher age 88, of Colfax, died Thursday April 21, 2016 at Our House Assisted Living in Menomonie with several family members by her side.

Agnes was born July 11, 1927 on the home farm in the Township of Tainter, Dunn County. Agnes was the daughter of Peter and Mathilda (Doelle) Schumacher, and grew up in that community. Agnes graduated as the valedictorian from Menomonie High School in 1945, and worked as a bookkeeper for Schoenoff Plumbing and Heating for seven years. Agnes’ mother became ill and so Agnes returned to the family farm. She helped her mother with running the household and helping with the farm chores. Agnes has remained on the family farm until May of 2014. She then moved to the Our House Assisted Living in Menomonie, where she remained the rest of her life. Agnes was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, active with the funeral choir and P.C.C.W., serving as treasurer for many years.

Agnes enjoyed reading, gardening, cooking, playing piano, singing and visiting with family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Margaret Schrantz; four brothers, Frank, Firmin in infancy, Joseph and Fr. Charles and a nephew-in-law, Tony Ferber.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Menomonie with Rev. James Kurzynski officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM Tuesday at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Menomonie with a Rosary at 3:30 PM and visitation one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.
