Charles Wesley Dean, age 79, went to be with the Lord, October 28, 1999. Charles was the oldest son born July 30, 1920 to Walter H. Dean & Bessie (Barnett) Dean, in Paden, Oklahoma.

Charles was married to Vivian O. Roebuck of Boswell, Oklahoma on December 3, 1945. They were married for over 51 years before Vivian preceded Charles in death on March 13, 1997.

Charles was married to Nelda R. Bowen of Ada, OK on February 12, 1999. She served as a wife, constant friend and support until his passing.

Charles enlisted in the armed services January 29, 1942. After basic training at Ft. Sill, OK, he was transferred to San Antonio, TX & assigned to the 12th field artillery. He was later sent overseas with the 602nd tank destroyer battalion where he survived the Normandy landing at Omaha Beach. He was wounded on November 19, 1944. After recovering from his wounds in England, he was sent to Temple, TX in January 1945 & received his honorable discharge on May 19, 1945. He received the Purple Heart & 2 bronze stars with ribbons during the European-African Theaters.

Charles served the transportation industry for 47 years with various accomplishments from salesman to Chairman of a corporation. He founded Ouachita Mountain Express & served as its president from 1978 on. Charles was a Master Mason in Myrtle Lodge #145 in Oklahoma City, OK. He was a 32nd degree Mason of the Scottish Rite bodies in McAlester, OK & a Noble of India Shrine Temple in Oklahoma City, OK. Charles was baptized into the Church of Christ at age 14. He later served as an elder of the church for over 20 years at the Central Church of Christ in Crescent, OK. More recently, Charles was a member of the Grand Blvd. Church of Christ in Oklahoma City, OK.

He is survived by his wife, Nelda, of the home; 2 sons, born to Charles & Vivian, Robert W. Dean & wife, Sue of Arpelar, OK, Michael C. Dean & wife, Francis of Moore, OK; 2 brothers; 2 sisters; 6 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by 2 brothers, Ray & Jimmy Dean.

Services will be held Monday at the Grand Blvd Church of Christ, with interment at Resthaven Cemetery, with Brother Hoyt Thatcher officiating. Services under the direction of the John M. Ireland Funeral Home & Chapel in Moore, OK.
