Lettie was the eldest of five known children born to James and Sarah (Piper) Lutton. She was born about 1814 in North Strabane township, Washington Co., PA on the farm where her father had settled some time about 1811 after coming to the area as a young man from Cecil Co., MD. The Lutton family farm was situated next to the land where the Chubbics settled and both families were members of the Chartiers Hill Presbyterian church. Some time during their marriage, Lettie and Frederick Chubick moved to Hopewell township where it is presumed they farmed. It was there that Lettie died at the age of thirty-three on 14 February 1847, six months after giving birth to her youngest child. She is buried in the Upper Buffalo Presbyterian church cemetery in Hopewell township.
