Jo Beth Baumann died on March 30, 2023, at 7:48 p.m. at Medical City in Weatherford, Texas. She was 95 years old.

Jo Beth was born on January 23, 1928 in Garner, Texas to Jewel and Edward Hollie Rowland. She attended school in Colorado City, Texas and graduated at the age of 16. After graduation, she went to work for the telephone company. While working as a telephone operator, she met the love of her life, Armando "Shorty" Baumann, a handsome U.S. Army Air Corp fighter pilot just back from the war. It was love at first sight, and the young couple planned to be married when Armando was critically injured in a head-on car collision with a drunk driver. The doctors and nurses at Nolan County Hospital did not think Armando would make it through the night, but he did; however, he was in a coma for ten days. When he awoke, the couple decided to get married in the hospital. They were married in the hospital on October 6, 1946. Shortly thereafter, they settled on the Baumann family farm south of Loraine and started a family. At first, Shorty worked in town and on the farm, but as the family grew he started farming full-time. When the children were older, the farming operation became a family affair, and Jo Beth started driving a John Deere tractor. She drove the tractor and hoed in the fields until Shorty died. After his death, she remained on the farm until her health began to decline, and she moved to Weatherford to live with her daughter and son-in-law. Jo Beth was a devout Christian and a member of the Lightfoot Street Church of Christ in Loraine until it closed. For a number of years, she taught children's Bible classes and worked alongside her husband when he served as an elder. She had a beautiful alto voice, and she loved to sing praises to God. Even when her health and mind began to fail, she could still sing hymns and would extemporaneously burst into a song. She is now singing with the angels in Heaven.

She is survived by her daughter, Patrice Baumann McKinney and her husband Pete McKinney, and their son, Leonadis "Leo" McKinney, his wife Leigh Montgomery McKinney and their daughter Emeline; daughter Diana Looney and her husband, Terry Looney, and their children, Tara Laminack and her husband David, and their sons, Anson, Jayton, and Becton; Trey Looney and his wife Bethany and their children Ryah, Tate, and Titus; granddaughter Aimee Baumann Henderson and her husband Leif Henderson and children, Hailey Leopold and husband Brett; Lacee and Leah Teasley; Nola Hutcherson; Sierra Williams and her children, Nevaeh and Ayreden Gonzales and Nola Kinsella; grandson A.K. Williams and his wife Kaitlin, and their son Anthony Kyle and daughter Olivia; and grandson Kyle Baumann and his wife Nicole, and their sons, Jordan and wife Shaylee; Jayden, Tod, and Daniel; and nephew Jimmy Dale Browne and his wife Leona, and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Jo Beth is preceded in death by her mother and father and brother and sister; her husband of almost 56 years, Armando "Shorty" Baumann; and her son, Johnny Edmund Baumann.
