Services for Roy R. Kunkle Sr. will be held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. Burial will be in Mount Auburn Cemetery.
Mr. Kunkle, 87, of 2102 S. Ninth St., died Monday morning at a St. Joseph hospital. A native of Atchison, Kan., he had resided in St. Joseph since 1912.
He had retired in 1961 as weigh master for Quaker Oats Co. Mr. Kunkle was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church and the Quaker Oats Old Timers Club.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Kunkle, of the home; a son, Roy R. Kunkle, Jr., St. Joseph; three daughters, Marjorie Kunkle, Virginia Kunkle and Shirley Burton, all of St. Joseph; two sistesrs, Faye Brown and Edith Blaylock, both of St. Joseph; three stepsons, Patrick A. Gilbert and Ronald L. Bilbert, both of Galt, Calif., and Loyal Gilbert, Stockton, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Sharon McBride, St. Joseph; a brother, John Kunkle, St. Joseph; 19 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
