Rena Francis Applegate Wheeler, age 85, died Thursday, March 31, 2016, at Kenton Pointe Care Center, in Maysville, Kentucky. She was born on September 13, 1930, to the late Glenn and Jennie Lou Hitt Applegate. She attended First Christian Church. She was a member of Twilight Homemakers and was a Kentucky Colonel. She had retired from Wald's Manufacturing and from RSVP.

She was preceded in death by: her husband, Earl Junior Wheeler, who passed away on April 10, 2007; a son, Michael Patrick Wheeler; a daughter, Vicki Lynn Wallingford; two sisters, Naomi Sheeler and Nell Applegate; and a brother, Sonny Applegate. She is survived by: her children, Jackie Earl (Brenda) Wheeler, of Maysville, Kathy (Herbie) Layford, of Ripley, Ohio, and Debbie (Doug) Heim, of Maysville; a son-in-law, Emerson "Lucky" Wallingford, of Maysville; nine grandchildren, Jackie Earl Wheeler, John Travis Wheeler, Emily Wallingford Marshall, Melody Layford Dragoo, Katie Wallingford, Heather Heim Bretz, Matthew Layford, Michael Fisher, and Rachel Fisher; several great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; a sister-in-law, Laura Applegate, of Maysville; a sister, Delores (Kenneth) Spencer, of Lexington; and a brother, Tom (Linda) Applegate, of Maysville.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Moore and Parker Funeral Home, in Maysville. Burial will be at Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Olivet Cemetery.
