Jack Van Metre, age 81 of Vidor, died April 12, 2016 at Vidor Health Care. A native of Starks, Louisiana, he had lived in Vidor since 1970 for 46 years and was a long time resident of South East Texas. He was a graduate of Starks, Louisiana High School and a U. S. Army Korea veteran. He retired from DuPont Beaumont Works after 37 years and was a former Real Estate Broker in Vidor for many years, he also enjoyed flying.

He is survived by two sons, Dennis Van Metre of The Woodlands and Derek Van Metre & wife Anna of Vidor; three daughters, Pamela Hawkins & husband Lee of Burkkeville, Wendy Smith & husband Corky Rollings of Beaumont, and Wanda Felty & husband Rick of Norman, Oklahoma; two sisters, Betty Hutson of Starks, Louisiana and Norene Minchew of Brazoria; twelve grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents Charles & Edna Van Metre, wife of 58 years Thelda Jean, daughter Paula Nesbitt, grandson Teddy O’Dell Baker, five brothers, one half- brother, and six sisters.
