Robert E. Ramey, Sr. 88, of El Dorado, passed away, Tuesday, April 12, 2016, in Gary City, TX.

Born in 1927 to John E. and Ina M. Ramey in Missouri, Robert had eight siblings including: Florence, Viona, Milton, Helen, Belva, Carlisle, Joy, and Caroline. Robert was reared in Missouri and northern Arkansas.

Because of his keen sense of patriotism he volunteered for service in the Army shortly after the outbreak of World War II. He was severely injured in Belgium and returned to the states for several months of rehabilitation. After returning home he married his childhood sweetheart Irene Harmon in 1946. After the birth of their two sons, Bob and Don, they made their home in Evansville Indiana. For the next 30 years Robert operated a garage and with his wife Irene and raised his family to love the Lord. In 1976 Robert and Irene moved to Eldorado Arkansas where he operated a gas station and garage on West Hillsboro, and became actively involved in building the television ministry at Murmill Baptist Church and singing with The Golden Keys. After retiring, Robert found a new calling as a member of the Master's Builders where he and Irene participated in the construction and renovation of churches all over the country.

During his entire life Robert was the consummate family man. He was a devoted husband to Irene, father to Bob and Don, father-in-law to Cheryl and Pat (who he always thought of as his children), grandfather to Heather and Ben, and great-grandfather to Rachel and Kyle. Every day Robert woke up with the question, "what can I do to help someone today?"

Preceded in death by his wife Irene and son Don, Robert is survived by son Bob, daughters in law Cheryl and Pat, grandchildren Heather and Ben, great grandchildren Rachel and Kyle, and siblings Helen, Belva, Carlisle (Betty), and brother-in-law Bob Haggard.

Viewing will be at Young's funeral home on Saturday April 16th from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. His funeral will be at Young's Funeral home Sunday April 17th, at 2 P.M. with burial to follow at Three Creeks Cemetery.
