Petaluma Daily Morning Courier, Friday June 3, 1898, p.3. "Mrs. Eliza Salter, one of the oldest pioneer residents in this vicinity, died at the home of her adopted son, L. J. Benton, just north of town Thursday evening after a brief illness. Deceased was a native of Oneida county, New York, aged seventy-seven years. Her late husband died in this city thirty years ago and was buried at Oak Hill cemetery, his remains afterwards being removed to Liberty cemetery, north of this city. ... She left an only daughter, Mrs. W. H. Minor of Paso Robles ... Mr. Benton today stated that it has been Mrs. Salter's oft-expressed wish that she be buried beside her husband at Liberty cemetery and he will see that the request is complied with."


Petaluma Daily Morning Courier, Monday, June 6, 1898, p.3. "The funeral of Mrs. Salter took place Sunday morning from the residence of L. J. Benton at Corona station. ... the remains were interred at Liberty cemetery beside the husband of the deceased, who died years ago. There was a large attendance and a number of beautiful floral tributes were placed on the new-made grave."
