- RICHARD M. DOSWELL -
Former Well Known Resident of Fredericksburg Dies In Norfolk Friday.
A telegram was received here Saturday morning announcing the death of Richard M. Doswell, former resident of Fredericksburg, which occurred in St. Vincent's Hospital, Norfolk, on Friday afternoon. Mr. Doswell, who was nearly 86 years old, suffered a fall last week in the hotel at Norfolk in which he made his home, breaking his hip and suffering other slighter injuries. He was removed to St. Vincent's hospital where it was seen that his condition was critical and physicians held out little hope for his recovery.
Mr. Doswell is survived by three nieces: Mrs. Eva Doswell, Mrs. Georgia Doswell, and Mrs. Alice Doswell, and three nephews: Temple Doswell, the Rev. Menard Doswell and William Doswell, all of whom are well known here.
The deceased was born in Galveston Texas, before that State was admitted to the Union, but lived for many years in Fredericksburg, being a member of a family that formerly was prominently connected with Virginia and which was for a long time intimately associated with Fredericksburg affairs. He has many friends among the older residents of the city.
The funeral will take place Sunday morning at 9:30 o'clock from St. George's church, of which he was long affiliated and interment will be in the Doswell lot in the City Cemetery. Rev. Dudley Boogher, rector of the church, will conduct the services. The following will act as pallbearers: E.M. Young, M.M. Lewis, John F. Scott, Sr., Peter V. Daniel, Thomas Shepherd, George W. Shepherd. The Daily Star - Jan. 16, 1926.
