Rites Thursday


Funeral services for Ted Baggett, Sr., former Elk City resident, will be conducted from the Martin Funeral Chapel Thursday, January 29, at 2 p.m. with Reverend Jack Young, Elk City, and Reverend Robert A. Dottby of Albuquerque, N.M., officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairlawn(sic) Cemetery. Mr. Baggett was born March 8, 1904 in Texas and died Tuesday in Albuquerque at the age of 76.

He was a retired salesman and was a longtime member of the Baptist church and at present was a member of the Monterey Baptist church in Albuquerque. They had made their home in Albuquerque the past 2 years. He was married to Willie Trent on November 5, 1924 and she survives him.

Other survivors include 6 sons, Terrance Baggett, Jr. of Albuquerque, Charles Baggett of Hayesville, Kansas, Bill Baggett and Tulsa, Ronald Baggett of Leavenworth, Kansas, James Baggett of Highland, Illinois and Trent Baggett of Stigler; 19 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and other relatives.

Note: The Martin Funeral Chapel is in Elk City, Oklahoma and burial did not occur in Elk City's Fairlawn Cemetery and was north of Elk City in the Kiowa Cemetery and was also not in New Mexico.
