Roscoe Rites Today for Mrs. Thomas

Roscoe - Funeral for Mrs. J. E. Thomas, 75, former Roscoe resident, will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Carl Smith, pastor of the Westside Baptist Church in Sweetwater, officiating. The Rev. Glenn Roenfeldt, pastor of the First Baptist Church here, will assist. Burial will be in Roscoe Cemetery with Wells Funeral Home here in charge.

Mrs. Thomas died Saturday at the home of a son, Malone, in Bakersfield, Calif. She had made her home there since moving from Roscoe in 1944.

Born Nov. 23, 1884 [sic], Mrs. Thomas married Jack E. Thomas in 1900 in Dallas. They moved to Roscoe in 1918, and Mr. Thomas, a farmer, died in 1941.

Surviving are eight sons, James, Malone E. and Joe of Bakersfield, Calif., Marion E. and Toby of Fort Worth, Jack of Barstow, Calif., Robert of Harlingen and J. W. of Hereford; two daughters, Mrs. M. C. Lewis of Sweetwater and Mrs. W. E. Armstrong of Fort Worth; 34 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be W. R. Potter, George Parks, Russell Haney, Grady Norris and James Jones, all of Roscoe, and Felix Jones of O'Donnell.
