Graduating from St. Rose's College, School of Nursing, she worked as a registered nurse at the Kimberly Clark company and later at Niagara Falls Memorial Hospital. She was such a caring and giving person that after retiring from Memorial Hospital, she volunteered there for another 20 years. Mary also volunteered for Meals on Wheels and for a local soup kitchen. She had a deep religious faith and was a woman of strong convictions, never letting her relatively petite size get in the way of expressing her heartfelt opinions, but never in an overbearing way. Mary was affectionately known as "le petite general." She was greatly admired for her strength of character, as well as for her physical stamina shoveling snow until well into her 90s.
As a wife, sister, mother, grandmother and friend - she was a caretaker in all of those roles; someone you knew would come running immediately if you needed anything. But she was also "always ready to go" - a trip, an outing, an adventure was always met with a "Sure, let's go!". Mary lived a strong and giving life touching the hearts of many along the journey. She will be missed.
