Mr. Lacy McIver Atkins Age 86 of Mt. Airy passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem. He was born in Surry County on June 7, 1929 to the late Joe McKinley and Lillie Corder Atkins. Mr. Atkins retired as a crane operator for John S. Clark and attended Fancy Gap Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife Doris Bennett Atkins of the home, two sons Steve Atkins of the home and his fiancée Vera Toler of Mt. Airy and Chris Atkins and his wife Dalette of Mt. Airy, one granddaughter Lauren Dillon and her husband Zach of Mt. Airy, one great granddaughter Caroline Grace Dillon, two sisters-in-law Ann Atkins and Beulah Atkins both of Dobson and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Mr. Atkins was preceded in death by four brothers Ivan, Clifton, Troy and Carl Atkins. Funeral services will be held Saturday April 2, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Airy with services conducted by Rev. Dwight Sechrist with burial to follow in the Quesinberry-Bobbitt Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday morning from 10:00 AM until time for the service at Moody Funeral Home.
