Velma Elizabeth Eckert, age 97 of Harrah, Oklahoma was born March 9, 1919 in Harrah, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of John M. and Lessie Pearl Nelson Miller. She left this life on Saturday, March 26, 2016 in Midwest City, Oklahoma.

Velma was a member of the Harrah Church of Christ. She enjoyed canning, quilting, singing and playing music.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Charley R. Eckert, daughter, Delores Smith of Memphis, Tennessee, three brothers and six sisters.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Laura Eckert of Choctaw, Oklahoma and John and Tracy Eckert of Garland, Texas; three daughters and sons-in-law, Joan and Russell Glouse of Choctaw, Oklahoma, Shirley and Joe Ecker of Harrah, Oklahoma and Delinda and Ken Sturges of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; sister, Bernice Farmer of Choctaw, Oklahoma; fifteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 2, 2016 at the Asa Smith Memorial Chapel, Harrah, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at Jamison Cemetery, Jacktown, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Smith~Parks Funeral Service in Harrah, Oklahoma.
