John Abbeehl was born in Berne, Switzerland, January 22, 1844, son of Christian Abbeehl and Elizabeth Groff. At the age of nine years John came to America with his parents, who settled in Claremont township, where he spent his entire life.
John was united in marriage February 6, 1869, to Margaret Daiber in Richland County, Illinois. To this union were born six children, one dying in early childhood. Those living are: Mrs. Alex Iaun, of Claremont; Mrs. Ed Iaun, Mrs. Ed Killian, Mrs. Will Armsey and Henry Abbeehl, all of Olney.

John united with the Evangelical Church at an early age and remained a faithful member to the end, although during his remaining years his hearing had been greatly impaired and he could no longer enjoy the church services.

John was of a kind disposition and the memories of his life will live in the hearts and minds of his relatives and many friends, who knew him best and loved him most.
His last illness was very brief, yet his passing had been his continuous wish and desire that he might join his dear companion of 62 years, who preceded him in death last September.
John died at his home in Claremont July 24, 1932, age 87 years, 6 months and two days his home in Claremont July 24, 1932, age 87 years, 6 months and two days.

Taken from the Olney Advocate Aug, 18, 1932. (Reorganized).
