Ruth Wells Pitzer, 93, of Burlington, died at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born April 19, 1922 in Des Moines County, she was the daughter of Charles W. and Alberta (Cummings) Faigle. On May 9, 1942 she married Percy Wendell Wells in Burlington. He preceded her in death on April 2, 1997. On April 3, 1999 she married Charles Pitzer in Burlington.
Mrs. Pitzer was a graduate of Mediapolis High School and Burlington Beauty Academy. She worked in retail for 51 years, first at J.C. Penney and later as manager of Seiferts and Tess the Xtra Size Shop.
Mrs. Pitzer was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, its Charity Circle, Golden Oldies and Monday Group. She had been a member and also served as past president of United Methodist Women, Burlington Federated Women and National Association of Railway and Veteran Railway Employees (NARVRE).
She enjoyed bird watching, baking, traveling and reading and loved watching Iowa Hawkeye football and basketball games. She cherished her time spent with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Wendell Wells; one brother, Wilmer Faigle; and one sister, Florence Enhorning.
