Mr. Aaron “T-Bone” Thurmond, Jr., 55, of Barnwell, SC passed Thursday, March 17, 2016. Friends may call at the residence of his wife, Alleane Thurmond, 804 Kings Road in Orangeburg, and the funeral home. W. B. Crumel Funeral Home of North assisted the family.

NOTE: Mike and Charles Thurmond lost their brother in an accident in Barnwell Thursday night. Now they, and the rest of his family, are grieving the loss of Aaron Thurmond. "I love him and I'm going to miss him, all of us are going to have to face that one day," Mike Thurmond said. The family says Aaron still had a heartbeat when he was picked up by helicopter to go to MCG in Augusta, but the first responders needed to go to the closest hospital in Aiken to have any chance of saving Aaron's life. "By the time they got him there, they tried to do all they can in the room, it was too late they couldn't bring him back," Charles Thurmond said. This accident in Barnwell happened just seven miles away from where Southern Palmetto Hospital operated until it closed unexpectedly in January. "If they had a hospital in Barnwell, yes that could have saved a bunch of time because it takes time for a helicopter to get here and have to travel so far," Charles said, "I think if they had one in Barnwell, it could have helped him survive there and I think he would have still been with us."
