James “Jimmy” Mason Spence, 77, of Patrick Springs, passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC. James was born on March 1, 1939 in Bluefield, WV to the late Edgar Spence and the late Gladys Williams Spence. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by eight brothers.
James is survived by his wife of 54 years, Betty Jean Spence; daughter, Deborah Cassell and husband, Donnie; sons, James Ernest Spence and wife, Cynthia and Ricky Lee Spence; grandchildren, James Brandon Spence and wife, Emily and Jessica Nicole Cassell; great grandchild, James Bentley Spence; several nieces and nephews; sisters, Virginia Brown and husband, Paul, Gracie Sigmon, Dorothy Spence, Lillian Higgins and Josie Bowman and husband, Dewey and brothers, Raymond Spence and Bobby Spence.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 pm on Sunday, March 20, 2016 at Stanleytown Amazing Grace Baptist Church where the funeral will be held at 3:00 pm with Pastor Greg Hodges officiating. Burial will follow the service at Patrick Memorial Gardens in Stuart.
