WOODLAWN, Va. — The funeral for James Laverne Blalock, 73, of 6029 Ranch Rd., Woodlawn, Va.
and 6701 Lebanon Church Rd., Mebane, who died Wednesday, April 28, 2004, at Duke University
Medical Center following an extended illness, will be conducted at 11 a.m., today, May 1, in McClure
Funeral Home chapel in Mebane by the Rev. William Holliday. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
Mr. Blalock was a native of Caswell County, the son of the late Willie James and Virginia Elizabeth
Tate Blalock. His late wives were Dorothy Ann Tatum Blalock and Betty Sue Bowman Blalock.
He was a truck driver, retired from Associated Transport & Pilot Freight.
He was a United States Air Force veteran of the Korean War.
He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Sue Beamer Blalock; three sons, Michael Lee Blalock and wife, Kathie,
Kenneth Wayne Blalock and wife, Beverly, and John Mark Blalock and wife, Linda, all of Mebane; two
step-daughters, Susan Smith of Fancy Gap and Brenda Moore of Woodlawn; a step-son, Bobby Beamer
of Charlottesville, Va.; three sisters, Mary Sue Moore of Hurdle Mills, Linda B. Crumpton of Blanch, and
Pearl Briggs of Burlington; a brother, Ben Blalock of Prospect Hill; seven grandchildren; a step-grandson;
and a step-granddaughter.
Memorials may be made to Hebron United Methodist Church Scholarship Fund, 2325 Mebane-Oaks Rd.,
Mebane, N.C. 27302.
